The rough blades of the grass beneath the mare's hooves tickled her fetlocks as she walked across the land. Each step she took was a little shaky as her anxiety and long list of worries ate at her. One more step and she entered the Faraway Meadows. Her wide nostrils flared as she scanned the area, narrowing her eyes and lifting her head. Sighing softly, she shook her head and relaxed her rather tense body. She moved forward again, tossing her head slightly as a subtle smile appeared across her lips. This place felt very serene and definitely made her feel right at home. She worked her way through the tall grasses, her thin coat glistening under the warm sun.
Gwin was her name; it was simple, quite the opposite of what she was, which was rather complicated in fact. Her thinking process was much different than most and it was hard to understand. Inhaling deeply, she peered up at the sky and watched birds fly overhead until they disappeared into the distance. She stumbled due to not paying attention to where she was going. Her heart shot up into her throat, but she caught herself. Dancing around nervously, she snorted and looked to where the culprit was. It turned out to be a hole in the ground, nothing to be afraid of.. unless a venomous snake happened to live in there.
And with that thought, Gwin leaped forward and galloped away from the hole. She made sure to watch her step. She noticed a path off to the right and swerved over to it, slowing to a trot, then eventually a walk, as she did so. Snorting, she pricked her ears and looked around quickly. She lowered her head and began to bite quickly at the grass. Every few bites, she would take a step or two forward. Her ears swiveled to the sounds around her.
