General Rules
1. When you sign up for an account, you are automatically agreeing to each and every one of these rules. If you disobey, it will result in a warning. Continuous disobedience will result in a ban for a week. If you STILL do it, you're account, characters, and everything will be deleted.
2. We don't need any assholes on here. It's not hard to be nice and be respectful of staff and other members.
3. Activity checks will be set up about once every month or so (or whenever I feel necessary). You will be expected to post in the thread with an IN CHARACTER POST. If you do not do this in the allotted time, you will receive an e-mail notification. If you do not respond to this, your account will be deleted.
4. Do not post anywhere (except the ooc boards) until your character is accepted.
5. Only one account per person. It helps keep everything organized.
6. If you're having problems with a person, don't take it to character posts or ooc posts or the cbox. Take it to PM. Or, if it's bad enough, tell me and I'll take care of it.
7. There is a question hidden in the rules somewhere that you must answer in the "other" section in your character application in order for it to be accepted and prove to us that you've read the rules.
Timing
1. There are, as usual, four seasons. Each season lasts Three Real Life Weeks. So that means a year, in-character, lasts 12 weeks.
2. There isn't just one or two breeding seasons. You may breed your characters all year round, but you must be conscious of that season you are going to be birthing your foal in. The gods will see to it that your foal struggles if born in mid-winter.
3. Gestation lasts 2 weeks.
4. Horses in the wild usually live about 15-18 years MAX, so it would be realistic to say that when your character reaches 18 years old, it WILL die. If your character does not die sometime before their 19th birthday, the gods will be sure that it does. And it won't be pretty.
5. If you continue playing your character even after the gods kill it, you will receive a warning.
6. Horses reach sexual maturity at three years of age. There will be no breeding before that. You will receive a warning.
Posts
1. I would prefer a minimum of 200 to 250 word post. I know we all have our days (or weeks or months or whatever) where we can't come up with anything good, but there's no rule saying that you HAVE to post everything at one time. Please just don't leave the other role players hanging for too long.
2. Though we don't have a posting maximum, we don't want the equivalent of ten pages of nothing. I hate reading through what a character thinks about a dandelion for five paragraphs in order to pick out something to reply to.
3. There is a posting order. You follow it. Unless otherwise stated by another member or one of them disappears for a while.
4. We're not going to be using the fancy words (i.e. dial, pillars, daggers, etc.) to post with. You're going to say head, legs, and hooves, etc. No exceptions. You do it, you get warned and the chance to fix it. If you don't fix it or continue to ignore this rule, your posts that have them in it will be deleted.
5. Please be respectful of people's eyes. I don't need to have to squint or copy and paste your post into word so I can read it. No funky colored fonts!
In Character
1. As with any board, GM or PP is not allowed at all. You do it, you get a warning. You continue to do it, you get suspended. STILL continue to do it you get banned.
2. If you have pictures in your posts, they can't stretch the page. It just makes it looks nicer.
3. There is liquid time. So take on as many threads as you can handle.
4. If you think your thread may be too graphic for some members, please post a [pg-13] rating on the title so people know to avoid it if they don't want to have to stab out the memory of it later. THERE WILL BE NO CONTENT THAT REQUIRES AN [M] OR [R] RATING. Proboards ToS says it clearly.
5. There are pretty much no limits for language or violence. Cuss as much as you want. Rip off faces if that's your thing. I don't care. Just keep the really graphic breeding out of it.
6. Ah the best part of posting here... Unless you buy immunity for your thread from the store, the god and goddesses can do whatever they like whenever they like and you can't do anything to stop it when it happens. Acheron can rape your mare, Adrastea can make wolves attack, and Aylette can... do whatever Aylette wants to do. If you ignore a god's actions, it will only cause more damage to your character.
7. If you want your character to visit the islands, they must submit an application to be looked over by Acheron. Read more here.
Characters
1. You can have make up to 15 characters. But then you must buy slots for more characters. If you breed and both you and the other person are at the max, the foal will die.
2. Gender ratio doesn't matter here.
3. This is a REALISTIC role play (outside the gods) and your characters will abide by our genetic standards.
4. If we see a pure white mare that's sweet but "you better watch out when she's angry", it's going to be a pretty much automatically rejected. If she's got a terrible past, it will be even faster.
5. Foals cannot survive without their mothers a month after being born. Don't say their mother died before the foal could survive without her unless it was adopted. It's impossible. Nowhere near possible. Don't do it. Your abandoned foal MUST have a surrogate upon creation or the gods will have their way with it.
6. As stated before, NO FANTASY CHARACTERS. Characters do not have changing eye colors depending on their mood, wings, or powers.
7. Mules and donkeys are allowed.
8. Now this is an imporant one: THERE ARE NO LIGHTS, NEUTRALS, OR DARKS ON THIS SITE! Get it? No alliances or any of that shit. If you've been paying close attention, you should know that you need to name the three gods in the 'other' section of your character application.
These next few rules are where it gets different and a bit complicated so pay attention.
Fighting
1. There's none of this "3 hits 2 dodges and it will be judged" shit. You fight like on any other forum. Unless...
2. You're fighting for territory or mares. When you are fighting for either there will still not be a set amount of hits and dodges but, unless you can't come to a decision yourselves, it will be judged by staff.
3. You can fight over whatever the hell you want, but the only ones that will be judged and a winner announced will be for territory or mares. Anything else is a free-for-all. So long as you don't godmode or powerplay.
4. Territory or mare fights also have a time limit, unless otherwise discussed. And if otherwise discussed, post it in the fight thread so we know not to disqualify the person that misses the two week mark. When you're fighting for one or the other you have two weeks to finish and declare a winner. If this isn't reached in the time limit, the fight is done and a winner is chosen, no matter where you are. The only thing that changes this is if one of the members is absent.
5. If you disappear during a fight and no one knows why and the deadline is reached, the other member wins by default.
6. There is no designated area for fighting. You can do it wherever you want, just be conscious of how dangerous it might be, such as on the Watchtower or in Melantha Cave.
7. Don't take character fights ooc. Just because your young stallion got his ass handed to him by an older one doesn't mean you can flame the other person or anything like that just out of spite.
Stealing
1. There is a specific board in the character area where you post to steal land or a mare. Post there.
2. You have three days to block the steal unless you have posted in the absence board. If you have posted in the absence board, you have a day within your return to block it. If you don't, you lose whatever was stolen.
3. Anyone can steal any horse they want. Except newborn foals. If you want to steal a foal you must wait until it is weaned (About 2-3 weeks after it's born).
Breeding
1. Breeding is PG-13 only. No exceptions. If it gets too graphic, the thread will be deleted and you both get a drastic warning.
2. You breed your horses, you post in the Hidden Grove for a foal. If you don't post there, you still get the foal. There's no pleasure-breeding here folks.
3. You can breed anywhere, but when it's done, you have to post in the Hidden Grove.
4. When you post in the Hidden Grove, all we need is physical attributes of the parents (height, fur and eye color, genetics, etc.). Personalities and histories of the parents aren't necessary. Personality of the foals will be decided by the role player of the foal.
5. Pregnancy lasts two weeks.
6. Birthing takes place wherever you want, but be conscious of it being in other stallions' territories or having to move your foal over a great distance.
Stallions
1. If you have multiple stallion characters, you can only have one own territory. Any other has to be a subordinate.
2. Claiming land comes on a first come first serve basis. If the territory you wanted gets claimed, too bad. You'll have to fight for it. Open territories say This land is NOT claimed. Claimed territories have names on them.
4. Stallions can force-breed. The mare cannot be claimed or has to be stolen first.
5. Stallions with their own territory can have as many mares as you want. But you can't just claim them and then forget about them. Nor can you claim every mare in the Faraway Meadows. That's just retarded.
6. Subordinate stallions can claim mares, but the max they can claim is two. Subordinate stallions can also breed with their mares.
7. Stallions must have a mare claimed to be able to claim a territory or challenge for a territory.
Mares
1. Mares can breed at three years.
2. Mares can fight stallions for territory but not to get mares. However, the odds are highly stacked against the mare, so keep this in mind before you start a fight.
3. Mares can own territory, but the moment they get a lead stallion, the territory goes to them. You don't have a choice.
4. Mares can only challenge for a territory. They do not need another mare in order to challenge, but they cannot claim an open territory.
Foals
1. Foals can be stolen once they are weaned (about nine weeks after their birth).
2. Foals cannot breed or claim territory until they are three years old.
3. Foals cannot fight for anything except to play.
4. Again, foals under 2 years MUST have surrogates or at least a guardian in order to teach and socialize them. If one is not provided, expect your character to be heavily monitored by the gods.
Gods
1. As stated previously, the gods are the only "unrealistic" thing here.
2. Each god has their own duty and responsibility:
- Adrastea: The site's named after her so she must be important, right? Right. She's the Queen B around these parts and no one can boss her around. She decides what kinds of things will happen to your character in a thread, whether it be a fire starting, lightning striking, a cougar attack, etc. She may even send her brother after your mare.
- Acheron: The only god. Acheron is the one you need to be afraid of. He decides who wins a fight and also who survives the crossing to the islands. Acheron also has the right to breed with any mare he so chooses and you have no say in the matter. Whether she is claimed or not claimed. Look at it this way, though, your character will be giving birth to a demi-god. What's not to love? But you don't have to constantly worry about your mare. He only (usually) chooses the best of the best.
- Aylette: Aylette is the life-bringer. She accepts characters into RoT and also creates the foals that are born. However, she can also be the one to take life away if she finds you unfit. She is not a goddess to take lightly, despite her seemingly gentle nature.
3. So yes, breeding with a god or goddess creates a demi-god. But don't go around looking for them. They won't appreciate it. If you want a demi-god, you must ask staff. These are not a dime a dozen, folks.
